Pokhara Hill Trek-Royal Trek - Emerging Nepal

Pokhara Hill Trek-Royal Trek

Pokhara Hill Trek, more popularly known as Royal Trek, is one of the shortest trekking itineraries in the Annapurna region of Nepal located in the western part of Nepal. The Annapurna region of Nepal is very popular for trekking and mountaineering in Nepal and the region is visited by thousands of trekkers every year for the same purpose. Annapurna Royal Trek with the Emerging Nepal is an eight-day trekking itinerary which begins with a picturesque/ scenic drive to the city of Pokhara from the Capital city of Kathmandu. The real and official trekking begins from Pokhara as you start your hike to the surrounding region of Annapurna. The Royal Trek derived its name from British Prince Charles who came with his friends and companions and trekked along the region in the early eighties. Since then, the itinerary is more popularly known as Royal Trek. Prince Charles’s visit helped a great deal to increase the popularity of the trek as many domestic and international tourists became attracted to it after his royal visit.

The maximum elevation the trekkers come across during the course of Royal Trek is around 2300 meters of altitude. The panoramic view of the Mountain Peaks including the ones of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, among others, and the settlement areas and the villages of the local living in the region are also the highlights of the trek. The trekkers and the visitors will also have the chance to learn more about the way of life of the people living in the region. The trail also follows a thinly inhabited settlement area, passing through the local communities and villages, the local people and their indigenous culture. The word Annapurna originates from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘goddess of the harvests’.
Royal Trek is an ideal trek for the amateur trekkers who do not have much experience of trekking as the trekking is very mild and does not require much physical fitness. It is also favourable for older people and children as the altitude one cover during the trek is just around 2300 meters. The Royal Trek begins with a wonderful drive to Pokhara from the Capital City of Kathmandu. The best time for the trekking is during September and November and also during March and May. However, the trekking can be performed all throughout the year.
